The composition of the vegetable skin care oil is an important element to achieve positive treatment results. Main component of most of the oils are triglycerides consisting of fatty acids bound to glycerin. Jojoba oil, the exception to the rule here, is, in chemical terms, a liquid wax and its properties can be compared with the sperm oil (cetaceum). The triglycerides may contain palmitic acid, which is one of the main constituents of the skin barrier, oleic acid and linoleic acid, which is the essential acid for the ceramide I formation in the skin. Evening primrose oil (nanoparticles) contains gamma-linolenic acid; rose hip seed oil and linseed (nanoparticles) are rich in alpha-linolenic acid. Both the gamma- and the alpha-linolenic acid form strong anti-inflammatory metabolites in the skin. |
